Book Reviews in This Issue

In this issue, Wordgathering reviews books both by writers familiar to its readers and by those who may be new. Poet, playwright and essayist Raymond Luczak returns with a memoir that chronicles his development as a Deaf gay writer. Sienna Elizabeth Raimonde, a frequent Wordgathering contributor, has her first book of poetry discussed by guest reviewer Yvette Green. Though new to ths journal, Paul Hostovsky is a poet getting a great deal of press l ately. The review of his Bending the Notes, gives readers some introduction ot his work. Finally, Wordgathering is excited to be able to review a work in a subgenre not often found in disaility literature - science fiction. The book is Nan Rosen and Carolyn Mineah's Voyage to Centauri.

The editors are fortunate to be able to provide readers with brief excerpts from several works. In addition to a sample of the work of Luczak and Rosen, described above, we also include a scene from Paul Kahn's play The Making of Free Verse. To peruse these works, just click on the links below.

Wordgathering reviews works of literature related to disability as well as theoretical work on disability writing. Though the the journal's focus is on poetry, it also welcomes works of fiction and drama. Writers interested in having their books reviewed should contact the editors with a letter of inquiry.
